I don't know what it is about this song, but it is endearing to me. It's that feeling of serenity and love.
It reminds me of my beautiful paternal Grandparents, Kathryn Pauline and Theron Sammie. I could go on and on about them for hours and may chose to do so in another post, but for now, their story and love remains in my heart, along with this song. A majority of my childhood and the early 80's were spent with them and to me, this sounds like a song Grandma would have played in the car or in her home. It's funny how a song can take you back to your childhood.
How nice would it be to have someone write this song about you?
Mmmm...warm, glowing feelings.
Bridge Over Troubled Water (4:55)
P. Simon, 1969
When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes,
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
When you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
