Holga-rific

Travis and I took a leap and purchased our first Holga camera in New York. We were so excited to use in such fantastic places like Times Square, Central Park, etc. As a matter of fact, we walked blocks out of our way through the blizzard-like chills to snap a few shots in Times Square.

So naturally, when we returned we immediatly took our film to a well-know local developer/camera shop. We were like kids the night before Christmas waiting for our prints.

So, you can imagine my surpirse when I pick them up yesterday to find out that they have processed all of the precious NYC film in black and white! As in, the prints from a camera with four color flashes are all completely void of color. We are so sad!!

However, we managed to find the good in five of the shots. Below is a photo of how Holga film develops and our five treasure finds from our film.

Needless to say, next time I'll remind them of the color components!

Wouldn't Times Square look awesome like this? Image taken from this site

Now for our photos...

Under the bridge that leads to Bethesda.

Travis and I attempting a multiple exposure to include both of us.
Bridge in Central Park. Travis is in the background.

The Mall. I like the fuzziness and almost look of the picture that you get when your eyes are too cold.

Cop Cot, our beloved spot in the park.

Looks like we'll have to get busy practicing with OKC subjects now. I think I'll start with a friend's wedding this weekend and the kids soccer games next weekend.

The best part of shooting with a Holga is that you never know what you're going to get. I actually think the B&W looks fantastic! The second image is my favorite. It's really beautiful and might not be quite as stunning in color.

The second one kind of reminds me of two people in the same place at different times, just waiting for the other. Travis and I have many stories of being in the same places prior to being together...thanks for changing my perspective!
