As a little girl, May Day was always a special day. Actually, it was one of my favorite holidays, more so than Christmas - can you imagine??
My mother would save the baskets that strawberries used to come in throughout the year. Then, in April we'd put ribbons through the little holes of the basket and make a pipe cleaner handle, to give it the true basket appearance. On May 1, she'd buy flowers to fill the baskets and we'd enjoy putting them on our neighbors porches, ringing the bell and running. So much fun!!
Since I have grown older and less likely to ring and run - I've adapted the May Day traditions in my house by sending flowers to random friends. However, this year, I'm thinking of something a little different...
I wonder who'll be the one to experience the May Day tradition this year? ;)
Here's a little tidbit for you to read on this happy May Day -
May Day is celebrated by some early European settlers of America. In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are made. These baskets are small and usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone’s doorstep. The basket giver would ring the bell and run away. The person receiving the basket would try to catch the fleeing giver. If they caught the person, a kiss was to be exchanged.
No kisses needed here.

Thank you for my lovely May Day flowers. You are too sweet!
MWAH! Thanks you guys! You are too sweet. My birthday is the week and Jeremy was very protective of letting me see what was inside the bag until he realized it wasn't birthday related. Haha!
