As many of you know, prior to taking my position with The Nature Conservancy, I was not what you’d call a nature girl. However, now I really cannot imagine a better job – I get to create new ways to market the state chapter and play with animals! Well, okay I don’t exactly play with them, but I do get to be around all sorts of critters and out in nature – awesome!
Last week, we held our annual bison round-up where we immunize research and tag the herd of 2500 bison. It is so phenomenal to be up close to an animal so massive and so powerful. The roar of the stampede is ominous.
Next time you are looking for a quick getaway, be sure to check out the Tallgrass Prairie where these fine specimens free-range or any of our other preserves. I guarantee you’ll see a side of Oklahoma you never imagined.
Check us out on December 16 on The Today Show!
(Okay, so I did this last week – but you get the point. Today I played at Martin Nature Park)
